Descrição

Occurende data of polar cod Boreogadus saida (Lepechin, 1744; Gadidae; also referred to as ‘Arctic cod’)used for micro satellite analysis in High gene flow in polar cod (Boreogadus saida) from West-Svalbard and the Eurasian Basin by Maes et al 2021. A total of 171 juvenile polar cod were collected from various fjords off West-Svalbard (Billefjorden, Hornsund and Kongsfjorden), the northern Sophia Basin and the Eurasian Basin of the Arctic Ocean, was analysed using nine DNA microsatellite loci.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Dados Sobre o Projeto

This study was conducted under the Helmholtz Association Research Programme Polar regions And Coasts in the changing Earth System II (PACES II), Topic 1, WP 4 and is part of the Helmholtz Association Young Investigators Group Iceflux: Ice-ecosystem carbon flux in polar oceans (VH-NG-800).

Título Polar regions And Coasts in the changing Earth System II (PACES II)
Identificador VH-NG-800
Financiamento The SUIT net was developed by Wageningen Marine Research (formerly IMARES) with support from the Netherlands Ministry of LNV (projects WOT-04-009-036 and WOT-04-009-047.04) and the Netherlands Polar Program (NWO project ALW 866.13.009), which also supported research during Polarstern expeditions PS80 and PS92. ). SUIT operations and sampling during PS80 and PS92 were conducted by Michiel van Dorssen (Van Dorssen Metaalbewerking), André Meijboom (WMR), Carmen David (AWI), Benjamin Lange (AWI), Giulia Castellani (AWI), Martina Vortkamp (AWI), Antonia Immerz (AWI), Sarah Zwicker (AWI) and Fokje Schaafsma (WMR) with the assistance of colleague researchers on board. We thank Jutta Jürgens (AWI) and Bart Hellemans (KU Leuven) for assistance with the laboratory work. The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest. Herik Christiansen was supported by a grant from the former Flemish Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology, now Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship (VLAIO, grant no. 141328). Sarah Maes is funded by a Research Foundation Flanders grant for strategic basic research (FWO-SB, grant no. 1S04418N).

Métodos de Amostragem

Sampling was conducted using a SUIT or bottom trawl (BT) with the RVs Helmer Hansen (HH), Heincke (HE) and Polarstern (PS) during four expeditions between 2012 and 2015 (Boetius 2013; Mark 2013; Peeken 2016;

Área de Estudo Offshore regions and fjords of Svalbard were sampled. This includes Billefjorden and Hornsund and Kongsfjorden fjords. In the Eurasian Basin, samples were collected in the Amundsen and Nansen Basin .
